This Made Me Cry…

Laughing….

Dear Mr Putin,

Please learn what the word decorum means to most of the rest of the world.

We don’t care about your religion. We want to see sports. If your little country can’t handle it… well, no point in letting you host the games now is there?

Belief In God Is A Waste

The tragedy in Kenya has brought out the god botherers full force. I won’t link to the blog (sigh) but here is the summary of the post:

I thank God that nobody I knew was hurt. A classmate and friend of mine was in the building when it went down but she was rescued by the police. She is still in shock, but she is safe and thankful. For those who were pesonally affected, I am very sorry for what happened.

They thank god that nobody they know was hurt… screw everybody else, god doesn’t love them. They are sorry for what happened to the victims and their family, but god doesn’t love them enough to save them.

What should matter now is that we stick together as one as we move ahead. As for those evil people, I have one thing to say. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, and he is as fierce as he is just. They will get their own in time, believe it. Whether it be in this world or in the afterlife. Believe it.

Then they get kind of normal… till they bring evil into it. Evil can only be countered by a god, their god. Never mind getting revenge now or setting things right… let god get them in the afterlife! You better believe it too, god said it.

This is one of the most egregious problems with religion – it does not fix anything. Instead it teaches to just turn the other cheek and pretend that life will get better. When it does teach doing something to fix the world we get what happened in Kenya. What is the lesson here? Is it that you should pray to the right god? Is it that god doesn’t really like shopping malls? Maybe it is that there is no god and people do what they want, hiding behind the alibi that god told them to do it.

If you ask me, most of the “real evil” (TM) on this planet wears the garb of clerics and believers. You can argue that point but you don’t have the statistics to back it up.

Whether it is because of holy texts or not, most of the evil on this planet lives their lives by the rules of a holy book.

So according to this blogger, god is going to punish the people he sent to kill hundreds at a shopping mall for killing the people he sent them to kill. Yes, makes perfect sense.

Oh, but I hear you say that the real god didn’t send them to kill, they did that on their own. Well, the ‘real god’ didn’t protect the dead did it?

There is no god.

What Did You Just Ask?

What Did You Just Say?

To Celebrate My 500th Post

Well, it’s here. Some time back (see link above), I said that I’d like to celebrate 500 posts with an Ask Me Anything (AMA) of sorts. I Think that I’ll not put any limits on what kind of questions, but I will say that I might not choose to answer in a way that you like … don’t be sad, sometimes that happens.

You can see the topics I post on for inspiration or just pull a question out of your hat.

You can ask here in the comments or at the email address: myatheistlife at G mail dot com

Please, if asking in the comments, start a new paragraph with QUESTION: at the beginning of the line.

QUESTION: Please ask your questions like this.

Heads Up

There are  a couple of topics which the men in black will not allow me to talk about:

  • Faster than light travel
  • Cold fusion
  • Tasteful mother’s day gift giving
  • Why your sports team sucks
  • How I know that you need to do laundry

Other than that, ask away.

Are You Guilty?

In the USA there are lots of people who still discriminate against GLBTQ members of society. No, they don’t make them use different bathrooms or sit in the back of the bus but there are situations which happen every day that show discrimination is loud and clear to this group of people.

Outside of raging bigots, the main support for discrimination against GLBTQ people is from adherents of monotheistic religions. I get flack from time to time for stating that even calm, mild, happy, liberal Christians are just as bad as the fundamentalists. The story of Amanda Brown’s Fathers is exactly what I’m talking about. There are far too many people who act inhumane to these groups. There are far too many people who are simply bigots to these groups. These inhumane bigots feel justified in their in/actions because of their monotheistic religious beliefs. That’s right. Mild mannered aunt Jane is an inhumane bigot. Maybe she doesn’t appear that way when you’re around her, but give her a chance to act on that bigotry and you see what happens?

That’s right. Kindly aunt Jane worries about the homosexual agenda when the only real agenda is that of monotheistic religions to oppress GLBTQ people. If anyone wants to give me flack for that stance they had better be calling the Kansas City Mo Police Chief and emailing/writing to the Police Chief their concerns and outrage at the very poor way their officers handled this situation. If you are liberal monotheist and think you’re not part of the problem, you’d better be speaking out in support of these loving husbands. If you’re not religious and think secular and faith communities can work together you’d better be all over this making sure your faith-y friends are speaking up in support of these loving husbands.

I’m sick and tired of being told that I’m negative and then having to read about news stories like this. I’m on the right side of history here. Bookmark this article and others like it. When the apologists and accommodationists talk about working together – show them these articles and tell them their work is cut out for them. They need to get off their bibles and out in the world stopping this kind of bigotry and hate from ruining the lives of others.

That’s right – mild aunt Jane is a bigot and if you’re not going to tell her, I will. Take this opportunity to break the news to her in a kindly manner. She _IS_ going to be told.

Stand And Deliver – Or Die

I’ve often said that believers should call out those that speak in the name of their religion who are less than stable, who are in fact nut-jobs. I would not and do not ask anyone to do anything that I would not do. Integrity does not need elitist classes. It is for everyone. This video is calling out the most egregious (currently, there will be others) group of non-believers and their cult like inanity. If you don’t like profanity you shouldn’t be reading my blog. This video includes some profanity which I think is well placed. These people should anger us to the point of using profanity, to the point of having nothing else to say that has any weight. These people are profane in their very existence. They use the term atheism as if it means something other than not believing in gods. They are idiots. Watch the video and know that right here, right now, I’m calling these idiots out as profane abusers of reason. I do not like them. As I have said many times before, I speak for no other and no other speaks for me. Just the same, let me be clear, atheism plus and its cohorts are idiots who should not be thought of as speaking for anyone but the mentally deficient.

I am an equalist. Equality is not easy, it is not cheap, and it will be painful for all involved including myself. These atheism plus people want only to get their own way at your expense. They are bad people. Yes, I’m an equalist, and that means that idiots have rights… it keeps me up at night, but it is something that must be. The value of reasoned argument is the key to valued society. In this harsh light such idiots are left to rot.

Enjoy this video… it calls out the current crop of idiots who think they can use my atheism as a platform for their bigotry. Fuck them. Yes, I said that. Feel free to hate them as much as I do. wheeeeeeee

Why Are You Worried About Your God’s Feelings?

Recently we have seen Muslims, Russian Orthodox, and many other religions getting all butt hurt over what they claim is insulting language, movies, art and other expressions of what it is to be human. We know what they claim – insult to god, church, or prophet. We could talk about this topic for hours, questioning religion, sanity of believers, and all manner of things.

The real question is why?

Why are they worried what their god sees or hears?

Why does it matter to them?

Let me see if I can speak about these aspects of the problem for a little while.

An omnipotent god can punish as it sees fit to.

Clearly some believers understand this rule of the imaginary since they blame natural disasters on homosexuality, promiscuity, and any other sin they can think of. To them it is always humanity’s fault when the imaginary sky god gets angry and causes a natural disaster.

They must surely believe then that if it were not for humanity the world would be heaven like. If only gods create disasters, then the earth would be an awesome wonderful place to live. Never mind global warming, asteroids, gamma rays, and the fact that the Sun will burn out soon enough. The Earth would be a perfect place to live if it were not for humanity. Has anyone ever asked a fundamentalist if they had thought this through?

  • Are they afraid they will be punished along with the guilty?
  • Is their god that careless?
  • Would he kill or punish the innocent in his wrath?
  • Why do they feel the need to punish people for their god?
  • Do they feel that their god is not wise and powerful enough to punish the guilty as he wishes?
  • Are they afraid that if the ‘guilty’ do not get punished by humans all others will see that their god actually does nothing to punish the guilty?
  • Would others see their god as impotent, anything but all powerful?

An omniscient god can know when and who to punish, and how.

An all knowing god knows who has broken it’s laws and when. Monotheistic Abrahamic faiths all claim that their god knows your life and all its details before you are even born. Their god then sits back, knowing who will break his laws and when … and does nothing about it.

  • Why do believers feel it necessary to point out to their god and others who is guilty of breaking their god’s laws?
  • Don’t they trust their god to know who and when his laws are being broken?
  • Why must they riot and call for new human laws to enforce laws that their god should be sitting in judgement of?
  • Why do their holy books tell them to punish the wrong and evil doers?
  • Is it because the charlatans who invented their religion did not want people to know that their god will not know when laws are being broken, even if their god could punish people?
  • Does it make them a better place in the afterlife to bring retribution down on others for breaking a god’s law?
  • Are they instructed to stand in judgement of those who break their god’s laws?
  • Is their prophet so petty that any reference to him that is not pure requires rioting, violence, murder, and all that is the worst of humanity?
  • Is their prophet simply an excuse for them to behave badly and get it out of their system?
  • Why does their all knowing god need tattle tales, informants, and bullies?

If the gods of monotheistic faiths exist, they are powerless or indifferent to people breaking their laws. It’s as if they don’t even exist at all. Their gods only punish humans by natural disaster. Never do their gods defend the righteous or specifically punish the evil in the world. Where were their gods in WWII? Where were they in any wars? Why doesn’t god heal amputees? Which god was in charge of actions on 9/11?

Fuck religion. It is  nothing more than superstition and lunacy. As long as it exists normal people will profess divine right to behave immorally and with evil intent. There is no good in a religion so long as that religion brings evil to the world. Monotheistic religions have brought more evil, death, pain, and suffering to the world than any other source, bar none.

I Hate. I Hate And I Am Proud Of My Hate.

Those are words that until recently I would have thought abhorrent, reprehensible, and a contradiction to all I feel is true. To be honest, I still have some trouble saying the words, but I’m getting over it. I’m actually getting happy about it to some extent. Perhaps it’s a sign that I’m still human after all that I am finding it possible to hate. I don’t mean hate like ‘I hate spinach’ rather I mean hate like ‘I hate you and I will kill you if I find you doing what you say you would do’ kind of hate.

This is important. It’s so important that I think I need to share it. First I’m going to share something else that is very important. There are a lot of things that you might find and think to yourself ‘well, that’s not on my list of stuff to take home and show mother’ but this is so important that you should show your mother (family, spouse, friends, etc.) despite the fact that your first reaction might be to put it on that list of stuff not to show mother. It’s so important that The Atlantic ran an article about it

Okay already,  what is this important thing?

Check out the 12 videos. It is important. I’ll get to why shortly.

Subscribe, like, share…. I dare you

Why these two bands are important

These few people and others like them have more intestinal fortitude than probably anyone that you’ve ever met or will meet. For the simple pleasure of making their music they can be imprisoned or killed. They can go missing from the face of this planet and no one will call the UN, no one will cry on CNN morning news, no one will hold a candle light vigil. They will simply be gone. Yes, theirs are made of brass and they make a large clanking sound. It may be the last act of defiance in your view but IT IS SO VERY IMPORTANT that we recognize these people who spit in the face of the dragon while making noise and trashing the dragon’s lair.

I’ve seen atheists ask ‘where are the Muslims speaking against radical Islam? While these few may not be practising Muslims you can bet they are cultural Muslims. They are not just speaking out, they are risking life, liberty, and limb to say what they feel about Islam. To be certain, they are not happy about it. They are so unhappy that they are willing to risk more than many atheists in the west would risk.

We gladly memorialise and celebrate those ancestors and actors who took offence at governments and risked life and limb to change it. Paul Revere, George Washington and the many from Europe etc. It is important that we do so for those in Islamic countries too. Not just because it is important for them but exactly because it is important for all of us who do not live under Sharia law. If such draconian law is to be upended, it must necessarily be brought to an end from within it’s own compound. These few artists carry with them the strongest weapon against Islam – The Need To Be Free.

Without support these few could simply disappear and their efforts would have been for nothing. It is important that their message be spread far and wide. It should be on the lips of all who work at the UN. Their music and their plights should be dinner time topics of discussion. Not because their music is the most magical music ever but because of what they stand for, the stand they are making, and the value that has to the rest of the world.

So listen, like, share. I dare you to.

Okay, get on with the hate part. Quit stalling.

Hopefully what I’ve written will give you a sense of the tear in my chest that I feel right now.

To all those that would imprison or kill these musicians:

I HATE YOU.

I FUCKING HATE YOU AND ALL THAT YOU ARE.

I HATE THAT YOU CAN BREATHE THE SAME AIR AS THESE MUSICIANS.

I HATE THAT YOU SHARE THE WARMTH OF THE SAME SUN AS THESE MUSICIANS.

I HATE YOU AND HOPE YOU DIE, SOONER RATHER THAN LATER.

I HATE THAT I HAVE TO ADMIT YOU ARE THE SAME SPECIES AS ME.

WHAT YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THIS WORLD MAKES ME SICK. I HATE YOU!

Maybe I’ve said enough, maybe I’ve said too much. What do you think?

The core of Islam is submission, the antithesis of freedom. Without metal bands from Iraq and Iran and Israel the world of humans will continue to cut itself till it bleeds out. The freedom that will allow these musicians to play their music is the very freedom those of us in the west consider so important. What would your life be like without that freedom?

I’ll put links to representatives in the USA and UN in the links page so that you can share your concern about this freedom in countries that don’t have it. Yes, it is your business. Oppression is not kind to anyone.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
