Compassion Is …

Recognizing a life in pain and in the same moment working to alleviate that pain.

Miriam-Webster says: sympathetic consciousness of others’ distress together with a desire to alleviate it

See how that works? You do it right then. There is no hesitation. If there is hesitation or delay, it’s just pity that you feel.

Am I wrong?

  1. Love it and agree. I love this about living creatures, sympathetic consciousness of others as you call it.

I can not seem to get the above video to stream, but its title gives it away just fine. 🙂

  2. I have seen this video before, and it is always so touching. People seem to think that animals are not capable of empathy or sympathy, yet there is so much proof around them.

  3. As thinking creatures perhaps we can be forgiven a moments hesitation.

    • Where a moment is 1.5 minutes I would say that is acceptably in the right range.

  4. This was so sad. We followed the story after this event. Rescuers moved into the area trying to find the dog. Having seen the News, many people had offered a home to him/her, but he/she was never found.

  5. I just found your blog via and I just wanted to say I’ve become a fan! Keep up the good work!

  6. Amazing post. I have recently read my son a couple of books that we picked up used two different volumes of books called “Dogs to the Rescue,” which were short stories about amazing dogs. You’d love them and could read the stories daily in your three-minutes of spare time. 🙂
