It’s Back To School Time Again


If I was in charge of education every child would be very familiar with Xenophon’s Anabasis, The Iliad Caesar’s Commentary on the Gallic War and of course Thucydides and Herodotus. The first four to fire the imagination and build character, to instil the idea of achievement and overcoming obstacles into the child. Then the two histories to teach what sets the west apart from the rest of the world and to show them what’s worth fighting for and why. I firmly believe that you can teach a child to keep battling on until it achieves, to try and emulate the heroes and once that spirit is built in and an expectation of success becomes natural to a person you pretty much make them unstoppable. This is how our ruling class is and was educated, because it’s how you make rulers and high achievers.
