Random Things – Flush It All Away

Just one of those days when this song sounds really good 🙂

But I don’t mind sharing.

Lyrics to Aenima by Tools

Some say the end is near.
Some say we’ll see Armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will.
I sure could use a vacation from this

Bullshit three ring circus sideshow of
Freaks

Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call LA
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
Any fucking time. Any fucking day.
Learn to swim, I’ll see you down in Arizona bay.

Fret for your figure and
Fret for your latte and
Fret for your hairpiece and
Fret for your lawsuit and
Fret for your prozac and
Fret for your pilot and
Fret for your contract and
Fret for your car.

It’s a
Bullshit three ring circus sideshow of
Freaks

Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call LA
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
Any fucking time. Any fucking day.
Learn to swim, I’ll see you down in Arizona bay.

Some say a comet will fall from the sky.
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves.
Followed by fault lines that cannot sit still.
Followed by millions of dumbfounded dip shits.

Some say the end is near.
Some say we’ll see Armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will cuz
I sure could use a vacation from this

Silly shit, stupid shit…

One great big festering neon distraction,
I’ve a suggestion to keep you all occupied.

Learn to swim.

Mom’s gonna fix it all soon.
Mom’s comin’ round to put it back the way it ought to be.

Learn to swim.

Fuck L Ron Hubbard and
Fuck all his clones.
Fuck all those gun-toting
Hip gangster wannabes.

Learn to swim.

Fuck retro anything.
Fuck your tattoos.
Fuck all you junkies and
Fuck your short memory.

Learn to swim.

Fuck smiley glad-hands
With hidden agendas.
Fuck these dysfunctional,
Insecure actresses.

Learn to swim.

Cuz I’m praying for rain
And I’m praying for tidal waves
I wanna see the ground give way.
I wanna watch it all go down.
Mom please flush it all away.
I wanna watch it go right in and down.
I wanna watch it go right in.
Watch you flush it all away.

Time to bring it down again.
Don’t just call me pessimist.
Try and read between the lines.

I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t
Welcome any change, my friend.

I wanna see it all come down.
suck it down.
flush it down.

  1. Well I put a like on this so I could tell you……..I didn’t like it. LOL

But I did listen to the first one. I didn’t mind the words…..but I want to sing along and just couldn’t get the tune. Was there a tune???

Big generation gap is all. 🙂

    • I don’t think it’s really a generation gap so much as a lack of exposure and personal tastes in music. When I deeply concentrating, such music helps my brain to keep a rhythm that is useful to me. My music likes list goes back to the early 70s and tracks all over the genre encyclopedia. There are 43 songs in that list, you’ll probably like one or two of them.

I tend to visualize the world in 3D, and my mind does this with music. I can hear the music and see the band playing the instruments and a missing beat, missing guitar has those musicians standing still on stage in my mind. When I’m deeply focused on work, that ability means that the work flowing out of my mind can be syncopated to the music. I know that sounds weird, It’s hard to explain. Look up Synesthesia and you’ll get an idea of what I mean.

  2. Thank you. That is interesting.

    • That’s kind of the only way I know to describe it and I’ve talked to others who internally visualize the same way AND use music the same way. I think we are all slightly synaesthetic, but there is no solid evidence for that. I think it accounts for a lot of ‘unexplained’ things in the human experience.

      • I did do a little more research on synesthesia. I am currently reading/listening to a book by another blogger and remembered the condition mentioned in the book. It is a science fiction book and I thought at the time he was making up something. lol
I have his book referenced on my blog or you can find our conversation about it here. 🙂

        • Thanks, I’ll read that. 🙂
